The 2006 Jackson High School baseball team etched their names into Washington state sports history with a season for the ages. With lofty expectations, they were nationally ranked before the season began, boasting one of the finest prep baseball rosters in the state’s history. Alan Briggs stepped in as head coach just before the season started, his supporting staff was filled out by frank Bower, Kirk Nicholson, Steve Nobles and Tom Allanson. They led the Wolves to a flawless 27-0 record, culminating in a 4A State Championship.  

The team, anchored by future MLB veteran Travis Snider, displayed exceptional stats and consistency throughout the season. Their mantra, “1-2-3-SAFECO,” echoed their determination to claim the state title at Safeco Field. Jackson’s dominance was evident as they outscored opponents 232-43 during the season and 61-6 in their seven postseason games. They blasted 33 home runs, with a team batting average of .410, an on-base percentage of .497, and an impressive ERA of 0.95, alongside 205 strikeouts.  

Ranked second nationally by Baseball America, behind a Texas team with a loss, Jackson’s standing remains a point of pride and debate. Seven team members earned All-Area first team honors, underscoring their collective talent and dedication. Their inspiring performance extended beyond the field, uniting the Jackson community and bringing home the first team sport state title since the school’s opening in 1994.  

The state championship game at Safeco Field drew nearly 7,000 spectators, a testament to the team’s impact on the community. They were the epitome of talent, dedication, and teamwork, crafting a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
