The Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Committee is proud to announce the Sports Hall of Fame 2024 Induction Class. The induction class includes five athletes, one coach, one sports contributor, and one team. The 2024 Induction Class is the 14th Class for the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame.
The five athletes being inducted are:
RACHELE KLOKE STOHL, BASKETBALL AND TRACK & FIELD
Rachele Kloke Stohl, a versatile athlete from Stanwood High School, etched her name in local history with remarkable achievements in basketball, track, cross country, and golf from 2003 to 2007. Her high school tenure was adorned with titles, State Champion in Triple Jump and State Decathlon Champion. In 2007 she made the All-State basketball team and was the All-Area Girls basketball player of the year (as she was in 2005). Transitioning to collegiate basketball at the University of Idaho, she continued to excel, joining the 1,000-point club and earning WAC Second Team honors. Pursuing her passion professionally, she played for Burnbury Southwest Slammers in Australia.
BEN SOMOZA, SOCCER
Benjamin Somoza’s athletic journey is defined by remarkable achievements across high school, collegiate, and professional soccer. Hailing from Edmonds Woodway High School, Somoza garnered acclaim as the Everett Herald All-Area Soccer Player of the Year in 1998 and was named the Seattle Times North End Male Athlete of the Year in the same year. At the University of Washington, he earned two 1st team All-Pac-10 honors and represented the national amateur team in 1999. He played five years of pro soccer for the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders. Somoza’s professional career saw him play a pivotal role in the Seattle Sounders’ historic USL First Division Championship title in 2005. As the Washington Rush Executive Director since 2009, he continues to shape the soccer landscape in the community.
GEOFF REECE, FOOTBALL
Geoff Reece, a football legend from Everett, Washington, went to Cascade High School. Starting as walk-on as WSU, Reece claimed All-Conference honors twice and secured an All-American honor in his senior year. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams with the 61st pick in the 1975 draft, capping off his rise from walk-on to star. Reece left his mark in the NFL, over four seasons he spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Seattle Seahawks, and Baltimore Colts. Inducted into the Washington State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, Reece’s legacy endures as a testament to his achievements and perseverance.
WHITNEY HOOKS, TRACK & FIELD
Whitney Hooks, a track and field standout from Cascade High School, achieved unparalleled success as a multi-sport athlete. Graduating in 2006, Hooks clinched four WA state titles in shot put and two in discus, setting a record in shot put that still stands. Her collegiate journey at Cal State Northridge saw her contribute to a victory in the Big West Championship and achieve a career-best throw of 50’6″ in the NCAA West Regional. She was inducted into the Cascade High School Hall of Fame in 2012. Hooks also spent time as a coach and mentor through opening the Hooks Academy, impacting young athletes in Snohomish County.
PETER LEE, SWIMMING
Peter Lee epitomized excellence as an athlete, veteran, coach, and educator. His swimming prowess ignited early, claiming his first state title in 1939. Dubbed “Torpedo” for his aquatic agility, Lee dominated state freestyle swimming, setting the 50-yard freestyle state record that endured over a decade. After service in the Navy from 1942-1946, he continued his athletic journey with the UW swim team. Ater a six-year hiatus from competitive swimming he earned All-American status at UW. Lee’s coaching legacy at Everett High School spanned nearly two decades, marked by a four year stretch from 1957-1960 that saw back-to-back state championships and two second place finishes. Peter was well respected by his peers and pupils, truly an inspiration to the community.

DAN PARKER, CROSS COUNTRY
Dan’s coaching legacy, spanning Snohomish High School to Glacier Peak, is defined by an unparalleled record of championships. Over three decades, he propelled cross country and track teams to remarkable success, securing numerous league, district, and state titles. 17 WESCO League Championships for girls, 11 for boys; 14 Northwest District Championships for girls, 9 for boys; and 4 Washington State Championships at Snohomish, followed by 5 more at Glacier Peak. He is a multiple-time Washington State Coach of the Year and Washington State Track & Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame inductee. Dan worked tirelessly to find his team’s the best competition and found creative ways to fund extensive travel through fundraising. Dan created lifelong memories for his teams and the impact reverberates through generations of athletes.

FRANK FOSTER, SPORTS ADMINISTRATOR AND SPORTS ANNOUNCER
Frank Foster Served as Chair of the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame from its inception in 2008 until November 2023, his leadership illuminated the path to success. Frank’s career as a teacher, coach, and administrator at Kamiak and Mariner high schools underscored his commitment to nurturing young talents both in academics and athletics. Beyond the classroom and the field, Foster’s altruistic spirit propelled him into various community roles, including chairing the Mukilteo Parks and Arts Commission, board member for the Mukilteo YMCA, and board member for the Snohomish County Board of Equalization. A graduate of Cascade High School, Frank was also a great athlete as the captain of the football team there.

2006 JACKSON BASEBALL TEAM
The Jackson High School baseball team of 2006 left an indelible mark on Washington state baseball. Led by first-year head coach Alan Briggs, this team had unwavering determination and unmatched skill. A roster headlined by future MLB veteran Travis Snider, they blazed through the season with an immaculate 27-0 record, culminating in the 4A State Championship. Their rallying cry, “1-2-3-SAFECO,” echoed their resolute pursuit of victory at Safeco Field, symbolizing their relentless drive to achieve greatness. They outscored 20 regular season opponents 232-34 and their post season opponents 61-6 in seven games. Their triumph not only inspired their peers but also united the entire Jackson community, marking a historic milestone for the school with the first team sport state title. Jackson also finished as the second ranked baseball team in the nation per Baseball America Magazine.
The 2024 Sports Hall of Fame Inductees will be honored at the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on September 25, 2024, at Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Angel Of The Winds Arena. Banquet tickets are available for purchase at www.snocosports.org/banquet/.
In addition, the banquet will feature the KRKO Russell & Hill High School Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Snohomish County Collegiate Male and Female Athlete of the Year and the Herald Man and Woman of the Year in Sports Award.
