Athlete Spotlights: 2025 Snohomish County Collegiate Athletes of the Year
September 4, 2025

We’re excited to announce that EmmaJoy Wise and Josiah Pierre were selected as 2025 Snohomish County Female and Male Collegiate Athletes of the Year!

Wise had a show-stopping freshman year for the Everett Community College (EvCC) Trojans softball team, finishing the season with a .506 batting average (fifth in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC)), and she led both the team and NWAC in doubles with 28. That number is also an EvCC record in doubles for a single season. She started and played in all 51 games this season, making her presence known behind the plate as a lockdown catcher and leading the NWAC in runners caught stealing with 18. Wise had 23 multi-hit games, including a 17-game hitting streak, totaling 88 hits, which is second-most all time at EvCC in a single season.

She cracked a few other EvCC all-time lists this season: second in runs scored (77), sixth in home runs (12), second in RBIs (71) and fourth in walks drawn (26). Wise was named the North Region’s Most Valuable Player, one of eight Trojans to gain recognition on the All-Region list, and she also got it done in the classroom, earning spots on the Academic Honor Roll, both the Dean’s List and President’s List with a 4.0 GPA during winter and spring quarters. She contributed to the outstanding softball team GPA of 3.60 and was a key factor in the Trojans’ run to the NWAC Championship game last spring.

Wise will be back in action during the 2026 season and is working to complete her associate degree while also launching her own baking business.

Pierre completed his two years on the court at Edmonds Community College (EdCC) and has continued his academic and athletic journey on a full-ride scholarship at NCAA Division II Malone University in Canton, Ohio. The Pioneers are coming off a Great Midwest Athletic Conference title and qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2024-25.

The 6-foot-5 swingman is a local product from Kamiak High School. In both his years at EdCC, Pierre averaged over 15 points and 6 rebounds per game, shooting more than 50% from the field and 37% from behind the arc. He was a two-time Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) North Region selection and chosen as a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-American. He scored 913 total points for the Tritons, leading the program to 41 wins and two NWAC Championship tournament appearances. He was also selected as the 2024-25 Edmonds College Male Athlete of the Year.

Pierre moves on with his Associate of Arts degree and plans to study mathematics or data analytics.

Both Wise and Pierre will be honored at the Snohomish County Sports Hall of Fame 2025 Induction Banquet on Wednesday, Sept. 24. Dinner tickets are $125 per person or $1,100 for a table (10 people). Tickets can be purchased at snocosports.org/banquet.
