Track & Field
Archbishop Murphy High School

Sarah (Schireman) Linse was a three-sport athlete at Archbishop Murphy High School. Linse was a two-year letterman in soccer, four-year letterman in track and field and a player on the JV basketball team.

Though she was also a member of the 2009 2A girls soccer state champion squad, running and jumping are what solidified her as one of the Snohomish County’s most versatile track and field athlete.

After witnessing state soccer success in the fall, Linse reached the podium at the 2009 2A state track and field championships that spring. She claimed first in the 100-meter hurdles and finished runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles, long jump and triple jump – and as a solo participant, she led the Wildcats to a fourth-place team finish. That’s all in addition to her 15 individual Cascade Conference league titles in the 100-meter hurdle, 300-meter hurdle, long jump, triple jump and 4×100-meter relay events. At the 2008 Washington/Orgon Meet of Champions, Linse finished second in the long jump (18-3 1/2) and third in the 300-meter hurdles (44.86).

Linse’s next chapter of track and field dominance involved competing for the University of Washington (UW). During her freshman year in 2010, she established top-10 pentathlon and heptathlon marks and led the Huskies in the long jump and 60-meter hurdles. She competed at the Pac-10 Multi-Event Championships and placed ninth in the heptathlon with 4,623 points, slotting her eighth in UW history. Linse repeated a ninth-place finish at the same meet her sophomore year in 2011., but she increased her heptathlon record to 4,657 points. She yet again set a personal best at the same meet in the heptathlon her junior year in 2012, placing 12th put earning 4,814 points, ranking her seventh in Huskies history.

In 2011, Linse anchored the 4×100-meter relay, helping UW place seventh with a 48.37 time, and in 2012, she set career-bests in the shot put (32-1 1/4), 200 meters (25.91) and 800 meters (2:25.66).

Her senior year in 2013, Linse led the Huskies in the outdoor and indoor long jump events, placing 11th in the Pac-12 Championships with an 18-5 1/4 mark. She later broke that record at the Stanford Invitational, finishing fourth with an 18-10 1/2 mark. From 2011-13, she received three consecutive Pac-10/12 All-Academic honorable mentions and was a four-year letter winner.
