Head Football Coach at Sultan High, 1954-55, Concrete High 1956-58, Camas High 1959-62 and Snohomish High School 1963-1994. Overall record 279-88-5, which was the Washington state high school record for most wins from 1994-2005.

Won AAA state championships in 1976 and 1978 and his teams won or shared 16 league titles. During the three seasons of 1976 through 1978 the Panthers were 37-1 losing only in the state semi-finals in 1977. His coaching career spanned 38 years of which his final thirty-two years were at Snohomish High. Other accomplishments/honors:
• Inducted into the Washington State Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1984
• 1978 Washington State Coach of the Year by National Coaches Athletic Association
• 1977 Herald Man of the Year in Sports.
