McClinchy Camano Classic Bike Ride : 40th Edition!
April 10, 2024

The McClinchy Camano Classic Bike Ride — previously known as the McClinchy Mile Bike Ride, is gearing up for it’s 40th Edition, taking place on April 28th, 2024! This event has a rich history and is even named after and early B.I.K.E.S club member, Stuart McClinchy. It has grown tremendously since the first edition back in 1982 and has taken place in multiple Snohomish County locations, including Monroe and Arlington, before finding its final home in Stanwood, Camano Island.

The McClinchy Camano Classic Century offers an array of scenic and challenging route options ranging from 103 to 15 miles, catering to cyclists of all levels. Riders can expect fresh food stops, mechanical support, and the enticing promise of gourmet tacos at a local brewpub—all included in the ride fee. For those daring enough to tackle the full century route, a mile of climbing awaits, accompanied by four themed food stops inspired by the Grand Tour, complete with polka dots and Tour de France flair. The first 200 registered participants will receive a souvenir neck gaiter featuring a watercolor beach scene by Camano artist John Ebner.

The first rider to complete the century last year had this to say about the route: “It was the most scenic century ride I think I’ve been on in years and years and years. Going out there by the horse farms was unbelievable, and then you go along the Sound, and then you come by all the cows farms at the end. You see it all. It’s fantastic.”

Beyond the thrill of the ride, McClinchy serves as a significant fundraiser for both B.I.K.E.S. and the Stanwood-Camano Kiwanis, supporting various community initiatives including bike-related projects and high school scholarships.
