The 2026 Viet Lynnwood (VL) Soccer Tournament was a perfect example of why we launched our Cleats, Cultures and Celebrations campaign earlier this spring. As the sports commission representing Snohomish County, especially during the year of the FIFA World Cup 2026™, it was imperative that we found a way to highlight all aspects of our area’s vast soccer scene.
The VL Soccer Tournament checked off all three campaign pillars because of the event’s vision to play soccer (cleats) and combine cultures (Vietnamese and American), all while appreciating the beautiful sport at two of our premier facilities (celebrations). We’re honored to have helped Viet Lynnwood FC, just one of our several local soccer clubs, to host this event.
Held Aug. 1-2 at Kasch Park in Everett and Meadowdale Athletic Complex in Lynnwood, the second edition of the tournament was a huge success. What began last year as a one-day event that included only 10 in-state teams spread across two divisions (Open and Over 40) expanded this year to 10 local squads and 13 traveling teams divided into three divisions (Open, Over 35 and Over 50).
“The event brought in over 1,000 Vietnamese Americans to Everett, Washington with a focus on community, partnership and a passion for soccer,” said tournament organizer Lai Huynh.
As the final whistle blew and the 44 matches were played at both venues in two days, the winning teams of the Open, Over 35 and Over 50 divisions are Thanh Nien Cali from Orange County, California, Viet Lynnwood FC from Lynnwood, Washington and Lua Viet FC from Houston, Texas, respectively.
