Slow and steady won the race at the 2nd Annual Snohomish County Open Chess Tournament in Mukilteo on Saturday, Aug. 23, put on by the Lake Stevens Slugs chess club.
The competition was a five-round, G/25 + 5-second-increment, Swiss (Open, U1500, Unrated) format with 95 players traveling from cities all across Washington state. There was also a competitor from Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, and another from Silver Spring, Maryland.
Below are the top three placers for each division and their respective prizes.
