Twilight XC Invitational

This year, The Twilight XC Invitational held their 16th annual race in Marysville, Washington. There were 4,500 high school cross country runners and a total of 90 participating teams. The event also draws a substantial audience, with over 4,000 spectators cheering on the athletes.

To Randy Eden, Race Director and Marysville Getchell High School Coach, this is more than just an annual event, it is a family affair. Randy’s family and friends are constant supporters and volunteers. “Without their help, there is no chance we are able to put this (event) on year after year”, said Eden. He also gave a high shout out to GearUp Sports and Nike, who have been collaborators since year 10 of the race, as well as the City of Marysville and Cedarcrest Golf Course, where the Invitational is held each year.

“This year’s event was great. We have some constants that we really set our meet apart, from the inflatable arches to the help we get from the golf course guys, to the amount of work my wife puts on the small details for the day of; It has become such a fun thing to do once it gets going. Now it is very stressful, especially the week of with all of the moving parts, but each year tends to find its way once we get to meet day.  Hopeful for next year and beyond with the hope of adding some college races in the future”, said Eden.
